Joe was my grand dad, he is the one on the right and the other fellah they just called Thurman, he may have been related some way. They had this photo taken for fun, Grand dad never really carried a side arm, and the photo reveals the prop here in the fact that Grand dad was left handed, so it is unlikely he would have worn his holster as it is in this photo even if he had used one. Grand dad never had chaps, he use to wrap his legs with newspaper and then buffalo hide over the top of that, tie then on his legs with narrow rope. Never wore the fancy cowboy boots either he had boots that were more on the lines of what is called "Ropers". He worked for several ranches in Texas, including the "Turkey Track", the "XIT" and the Box T. I have never quite been able to pin point his birthday, because he adjusted the year and even the date between Aug 11 and Aug 16, as his needs for a different age arose, so I have documentation on him that is known to be him or that were family pieces where his birth year has been sited as 1873 to 1878 and the US Government decided they would use 1875... about as close as I come to what I think may be the actual year of his birth is between 1876 - 1877 born in Florence, Williamson County, Texas and he died March 2, 1952, In Issaquah, Washington.
