    Jimmie Leroy Gish spent most of his adult life working as the night manager of the O'Farrell Theatre in San Francisco. Everyone at work called him Gish (instead of Jim) because the owner of the business was also named Jim. Gish, a chain-smoker for decades, died of lung cancer in 2007, unmarried and childless.
