Introduction

Jeffrey's father was William Jacob Yurkofsky, 1926-2013, and his mother was Ann (Sperber) Yurkofsky. He had sister Sandra (Yurkofsky) Bates. Jeffrey, a physician, was married to Lynn Marie (Tamborski) Yurkofsky and they had children Joshua and Judith. Jeff and Andy Slavitt C’88 W’88, were roommates at Penn. When Jeff died of a brain tumor in 1998, Andy was "alarmed by the hefty medical bills left behind for [his] widow - even though his friend had health insurance." As a result, Slavitt moved from consulting and investment banking into starting his own healthcare company, Health Allies." (From The Pennsylvania Gazette, 27 Feb 2014)
