    Source: The Marion Star, 6 November 1975 Jedd M. Sapp, 84, of 202 Blaine Ave. died at 4:42 p.m. Wednesday in East Lawn Manor. Originally from Grafton, W. Va., he came here four years ago. He had been a B & O Railroad Co. foreman 50 years. His wife Rose (Arnold) Sapp proceeded him in death. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Wilbur (Olive) Miller of the Blaine Avenue address, 2 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Services in Barlett Funeral Home in Grafton will be followed by burial in Woodsdale Cemetery in Taylor Co. W. Va. Boyd Funeral Home handled local arrangements.

In 1905, Jedediah was just 14 years old when the Niagara Falls conference was held in Fort Erie, Ontario. Led by W.E.B. Du Bois and William Monroe Trotter, a group of African-American men met in opposition to racial segregation and disenfranchisement. Booker T. Washington had been calling for policies of accommodation and conciliation and these two men, along with the others who attended the conference, felt that this was accomplishing nothing. The group was the precursor to the NAACP.
