He was in a relationship with Orilla Matilda (Hutt) Doxtator, and had children Ronald E Doxtator, Bonnie Dee (Doxtator) Van Allsburg, Jalene (Doxtator) Beattie, and Naomi (Doxtator) Hoffman. Jay Doxtator died at age 79 years old in February 1973.

It was a tear-jerker and audiences went wild - especially when they heard the songs. Thus begun the demise of silent films and the rise of "talkies".
