Debut and only studio album by R&B Singer/Songwriter Janice Dowlen (1957-1991) featuring the R&B hit and cult classic "Gentle (Callin Your Name) ft. Fredrick". The album which was recorded from 1983-1985 was released in Fall of 1985 after the success of "Gentle" and also featured the moderately successful singles "Just Two People In Love" and "Voyage To Atlantis". Dowlen would later collaborate again with Fredrick in 1991 for his gospel single, "Find Your Way Home". Sadly shortly after it's release Dowlen passed away unexpectedly at the age of 34 from complications of a heart ailment. Prior to Dowlen's passing "Gentle" was covered by pop singer Dino for his sophomore album "Swingin".

Public may join in music video
Positive Images Products Co., a locally based cosmetics and hair-products firm, invites the public to be a part of a music video taping at 7 p.m. Sunday at the Akron Convention Center.

The production will involve the taping of two local solo recording artists and two local groups: Frederick, who made his claim to fame with the release, Gentle, and Janice Dowlen. The groups are Spellbound, whose releases include Under My Spell and Keep it Coming, and Ultimate Choice.

The music video will be Positive Images' second production. The first featured the group Ivy and its single, Beauty and the Beat. Also included will be a makeup symposium featuring area stylists from 2 to 5 p.m. Participants include Expression of Your Hair Design Studio, Evans & Company, Le Premiere, LaKutt Hair Salon, Positive Images Phase I and Positive Images Products.
