Jan Van Hoesen is the first "Van Hoesen" to come to "the new world". He and his family settled the primitive settlement on the Hudson River called "Kyaderaserras" (im sure I just butchered that spelling), which was the name given by the Natives, to the settlement/fort, named at the time, "Fort Orange ". They arrived in 1641 and occupied the absolute southeast corner of the settlement. Fort Orange later became "Beverwyke", ultimately becoming the current day City of Albany, NY. The actual physical spot that the Van Hoesen family occupied is currently under the 787 highway. About where the corner of State St and Broadway. ...to be continued!

My name is Patrick Van Hoesen and im a direct descendant of Jan Van Hoesen. Our immediate family has done extensive research and have traced Jan's predecessors back to the early 1500's. I'm am doing this off memory and there may be discrepancies, i WILL update, add too and correct any misinformation.
