He married Isabella Kennedy Ringin in 1899, and had children Donald Alexander William Ringin, Eliza Olive Ringin, Janet Isabella Ringin, James Smythe Ringin, Harriet Marjory Ringin, and Angus David Boyd Ringin. James Ringin died at age 71 years old on May 11, 1947 in Drouin, Baw Baw Shire County.
