James Deuchar died at age 45 years old on June 8, 1903 at Wanganui Hospital 100 Heads Rd, in Wanganui, Wanganui District County, Manawatu-Wanganui New Zealand, and was buried at Mangaweka Cemetery in Marton, Rangitikei District County.

    James Sharp Deuchar was born on July 30th, 1857 in Scotland to Alexander Deuchar (1824 - 1873) and Jane Sharp Deuchar (1826 - 1894). He had a half brother, George Duncan Deuchar, born in 1859. Married twice, James first married Edith Laura Horrocks (1850 - 1883 in 1882 in Wellington, New Zealand and they had son James Charles Alexander Deuchar (1883 - 1949). His second marriage was to Elizabeth Alice Evans (1860 - 1934) on November 21st, 1898. They had two daughters: Ruby and Eileen; and one son, William.
