James Burr Stilley 1875 - 1957

James Burr Stilley was born on April 14, 1875 in Washington United States to Mariah (Burr) Stilley and Jeremiah Stilley, and had siblings Sarah Ann (Stilley) Fallis, Jacob Redding Stilley, and Lavina (Stilley) Hottell. He married Hattie Grace (Long) Stilley on August 6, 1919, and had a child Alyce Arleta (Stilley) Bradley. James Stilley died at age 81 years old on January 2, 1957 in Tonasket, Okanogan County.

Introduction

James Burr Stilley's mother was Maria Angelina Burr. Her parents came west over the Oregon Trail in 1854. Her father died on the trail and her mother married Jacob Redding Meeker when she arrived in Puget Sound. Jacob was the father of Ezra Meeker, thus making Angelina his step-sister and James his step-nephew. The Stilleys moved from Puget Sound to Okanogan County in 1900. There is a story about the Stilleys in the Okanogan newspaper around December 23, 1923.
