He married Ila Mae Caraway, and died at age 53 years old on January 24, 1969 at Fort Sam Houston AFB Hospital in San Antonio. Jake Geordon was buried in January 1969 at Caraway Cemetery in Leesville, Gonzales County.

In 1915, in the year that Jake Geordon was born, in May, the RMS Lusitania was sunk by a German torpedo. The Lusitania was a British passenger ship that was sailing from New York to Liverpool England. She sank in 18 minutes - 1,198 died and 761 survived.
