Jack was my grandfather
I was the first born grandchild and the first boy born into the family in 48 years. Grandpa had had a heart attack 2 weeks before I was born in August 1963. He was released from the hospital on the same day as my mother and held his new grandson during the ride home. Grandpa Duffy was the storyteller in the family and would entertain his 3 grandchildren (me, my sister & brother) with stories of his childhood. He called them “Johnny Stories”. There were about 6 different stories he would tell us (always at bedtime) and until his death they continued to delight his young audience. Each time he told a story it was like hearing it for the first time.
