J Pride died at age 44 years old in June 1975.

His sibling are Johnny Mack Pride (deceased); Maggie Pride-Reid (deceased); Mattie Pride-Jackson (New Jersey) and Willie B. Pride (Georgia). He was married to Virginia of Fitzgerald, GA and they had two daughters, Lillie Ann and Carolyn.
