Isabella Maud (Giffin) Macklin was born in 1884 to William Giffin and Harriett Jemima (Venables) Giffin, and had a brother William George Giffin. She married Charles Christopher Macklin. She would also marry Percy Barrett Proctor. Isabella Macklin died at age 82 years old in 1966, and was buried at Toowong Cemetery Frederick St, in Toowong, Brisbane City County, QLD Australia.

The Telegraph, Brisbane. 10th February 1912. - MARRIAGES. PROCTOR - GIFFIN. On 17th January, at Christ Church, Milton, by Rev. Hugh Simmons, Percy B., eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. P. Proctor, Wellington road, East Brisbane, to Isabel May, fourth daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. Giffin, Campbell street, Paddington. The Telegraph, Brisbane. 20th May 1922. - MARRIAGES. MACKLIN - PROCTOR. On the 21st April, at Christ Church, Milton, by the Rev. O. M. Whitehouse, Isabella Maud Proctor, widow of the late P. B. Proctor, British Solomon Islands, and daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. W. Giffin, of Edmonton, Campbell street, Paddington, to Charles Christopher Darrell Macklin, of the H.M.A.S. Stalwart, and eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Macklin, of Evanston Row, Leeds, Yorkshire, England.

In 1884, in the year that Isabella Maud (Giffin) Macklin was born, on August 5th, the cornerstone for the base of the Statue of Liberty - a gift from the people of France - was laid. 120,000 people - most donations were $1 - donated to the completion of the base. An 1883 poem by Emma Lazarus was also written to raise funds. That poem was included in the base of the statue and is well known today.
