  • Introduction

    Hugh arrived ar Port Jackson NSW on 10/04/1791 3rd FLEET, on the Queen and was transferred to Norfolk Island. Under the command of Richard Owen the Queen left Cork Ireland on 10/04/1791. The Queen was the first ship to bring convicts to Australia from Ireland. Hugh married Charlotte Hall (Simpson) arrived 2nd FLEET, Lady Juliana 04/06/1790. Charlotte born Simpson/Hall was born in London UK 1767. After arriving in Sydney NSW, Charlotte was sent to Norfolk Island on Surprise on 01/08/1790. She had a relationship with William Thomas Dodge and they had 3 children, Ralph, William and Sarah. Charlotte married Hugh on 16/10/1810 at Hobart, Tasmania and they had 5 children including Hugh Jnr 1798, John Hall 1802 and Elizabeth 1808. Charlotte died 31/12/1828 at Carlton, Tasmania.
