Hortense was baptized at All Souls, St. Marylebone in Greater London County, England United Kingdom. She married Henry Robert Howard, and had children Henry Adrian Howard, Edith Sarah Howard, Maude Elizabeth Howard, Gertrude Howard, Ernest James Howard, Zoe Beatrice Howard, Amy Octavia Edith Howard, and Arthur Collis Howard. Hortense Howard died at age 79 years old on August 16, 1911 in Canterbury, Boroondara City County, VIC Australia, and was buried at Kew Cemetery in Kew.

The Geelong Advertiser and Intelligencer. 26th May 1856. ........MARRIED...... On the 20th instant, at Christ Church, Geelong, by the Rev. Grainger M. Brough, L.L.D., Henry Robert Howard, Saddler, of Geelong, to Hortense Eliza, second daughter of the late Mr. Adrian Stoll, of Old Cavendish-street, London.
