Hilda Beatrice (Bott) Hiho of Yarram, Wellington Shire County, VIC Australia was born on March 1, 1915 in Sale to Stella Margaret (Mclaren) Bott and Archie John Bott. She had siblings George William Bott, Dulcie Ada Bott, Jean Laurine Bott, Eric John Bott, and Albert Edwin Bott. She married Neil Richard "Dick" Hiho in 1939, and had children Judith Lorraine Hiho and Christine Janet Hiho. Hilda Hiho died at age 79 years old on June 6, 1994 in Yarram.

In 1915, in the year that Hilda Beatrice Bott was born, The Birth of a Nation opened in February. A silent film, it was the most ambitious film to date and is considered a classic. Three hours long, it starred Lillian Gish and was directed by D. W. Griffith. The movie was based on the book The Clansman and told the story of two families (one pro-Union and one pro-Confederate) and their relationship during the Civil War and Reconstruction. The KKK was shown as "a heroic force".
