He had siblings Robert Ernest Cox, George Ray Cox, Muriel Rae (Cox), and Violet (white). He married Mary Agnes ( Cox), and they were married until death separated them. He had children Herbert Ray Cox, Joyce Cox, Sylvia Joan (Cox), Mary (Cox), Nancy (Cox), and Patricia (Cox). Herbert Cox died at age 47 years old on August 23, 1943 in Richmond, and was buried at Burwood Cemetery Gilmour St, in Burwood, Whitehorse City County.
