    Henry was the second born child of Henry Lloyd and Alice Amelia Allen. Sister was Alice Maria Les(s)ingham Lloyd born 1877 in Caulfield, Victoria. Henry died in 1965 at Box Hill, aged 80 years. His father - Henry Lloyd - emigrated to Australia with brothers Benjamin and Frederick. Their parents were Benjamin Lloyd and Charlotte Lessingham.

In 1885, in the year that Henry Irwin Bonacich Lloyd was born, on June 17th, the Statue of Liberty arrived in New York Harbor. Two hundred thousand people and hundreds of boats greeted the statue. It had to be assembled but that had to wait until the pedestal was completed the following April.

In 1911, he was 26 years old when the United States Supreme Court broke up Standard Oil in May. John D. Rockefeller established Standard Oil in 1870 and it was the largest oil refinery at the time. The Supreme Court found that Standard Oil of New Jersey (one of the many iterations of Standard Oil) was guilty of "monopolizing the petroleum industry through a series of abusive and anticompetitive actions". The Court broke up the several entities that comprised Standard Oil and they eventually became competing firms.
