    Private Hazel Dell (Rollins) Malone was born to Augustus McHenry "A.M." Rollins, Sr. (1857 - 1932) and Mary S. Bobzien Hunter, born 1878. Her father was born in Missouri and her mother was born in California. She had one brother, August M. Rollins, Jr., born 1896. Hazel Rollins married three times: 1st to Cpl Adolph Anton Schuman, Jr. (1893 - 1981). They had two children, Myrtel and Paul; next to Edward Malone (1887 - 1979), They had one daughter, Myrtel Anastasia "Tasia". Her last marriage was to Walter Carl Skousen (1900 - 1996). A veteran of World War II, Hazel was a stenographer and an election clerk in the United States Womens' Army Corps.

In 1919, at the age of 24 years old, Hazel was alive when in January, Nebraska was the 36th state to ratify the 18th Amendment, making it the law of the land. The 18th Amendment established Prohibition - a law against the production, transport, and sale of alcohol. Private consumption and possession were not prohibited. Several months later, the Volstead Act was passed, creating laws to enforce the Amendment. Bootlegging and bathtub gin followed.
