  • Introduction

He was born in Gulfport. MS while his parents were living there temporarily and raised in Nashville, TN. One of his first jobs as a young man was as an usher at the Ryman Auditorium when it was home to the Grand Old Opry He is a veteran of WWI and was honorably discharged from the U.S. Marine Corps with the rank of Corporal which was appointed to him on Oct. 01, 1918. He was also qualified as a Marksman on Aug. 16, 1918 . He was stationed out of Parris Island, SC He and my great uncle Harper Almond Clark, Sr. had the most successful auto dealership in West Palm Beach. It was Clark Warwick Oldsmobile. Eventually my grandfather sold his share to Harper, and eventually Harper turned over the whole business to his son, my cousin Harper Almond Clark, Jr. which he successfully ran from 1961 to 1988. I am mentioning his great nephew here because he never got to know him, as the child died from crib death at 1 month old. My grandfather was out of the country at the time the child was born and died. My cousin (the baby's father, my grandfather's nephew) came to the airport to inform my grandfather what had happened. The reason this was so touching was because they had named the baby after my grandfather Harvey Shannon Warwick II, my grandfather was so proud to have had a namesake even if it was just for a short amount of time. They are both together again in heaven, and I know they have bonded. I gave him the name "Himmy" when I was very young...dont know how I came up with it, but it stuck, and since I was the apple of his eye, he was proud of that name. I also remember as he got older and was suffering from Alzheimer's he would love to eat Beet sandwiches...Bread, beets, and mayonaisse...where he got that from I don't know, but whenever I see Beets I think of him
