Harold Aburrow of Melbourne, VIC Australia was born in 1886 in South Melbourne, Port Phillip City County to Francis William Aburrow and Catherine (Barnes) Aburrow. He had siblings Francis William Aburrow, Amelia Eliza Aburrow, Selina Catherine (Aburrow) Riley, Ethel Maud (Aburrow) Kelly, Hilda Vivian (Aburrow) Engelhardt, and Alfred Mannell Aburrow. He married Janet Frances (Connor) Aburrow in 1914, and had children Douglas Harold Aburrow, Alma Jean Aburrow, and Nancy Beryl Aburrow. Harold Aburrow died at age 80 years old in 1966.

In 1886, in the year that Harold Aburrow was born, on June 13th, the "Great Vancouver Fire" destroyed most of Vancouver, British Columbia. A small brush fire got out of control and spread to the rest of the city. Dozens of people died and it was only after the fire that money was raised for a fire hall. The local Squamish tribe rescued people who had jumped into bodies of water to escape the conflagration.
