  • Introduction

I am not sure where my grandfather was born, but his brother would visit him from Wigginton, England. My grandfather was a very stern man. He stood 6'2" tall. His wife, my grandmother was Mary Ben Bibb Wigginton. (b. 1896) They had three children. The oldest, my beloved aunt, Maurice b.1913) My uncle Guy Wesley Wigginton, Jr (b.1914) and my dad, Charles Edward Wigginton, Sr. (b.1915) were only 9 months apart. My aunt and dad moved to California in the late 1930's/early 1940's to escape the bitter cold. They were later joined by my grandmother Mary. My great uncle would occassionaly come to Southern California from England to visit them. I know my grandmother or someone else she was named after was a reknown ceramic artist. Some of her pottery was discovered among the fine dining wares at a plantation auction by a colleague of mine attending the auction in Southern Louisiana. My uncle and my dad owned a funeral home in Louisville on Greenwood Avenue for many years.
