Told off by grandpa! When Alan Poon (grandson) was a child and watched his grandfather working at the Queen Victoria Market, he laughed at his grandpa's pronunciation of "Granny Smiths". After correcting him, Alan was scolded by his grandfather for having "eaten more salt than he has eaten rice" (a chinese saying that means he has experienced more so knows better)

Alan never spoke to his grandfather again, until his grandfather was in his deathbed.

First meeting with his grandson in Australia: Waan Fong arrived in Australia with Peter Poon (eldest son) and David Poon (nephew)

When Waan Fong Poon (son) and Peter Poon (grandson) arrived in Australia via Sydney, the first comment Gurt made to Peter Poon on meeting him was "I will take you out to try a beef steak!"
