Gladys K (Aka C) (Dransfeldt) Peugh of Portland, Multnomah County, OR was born on July 7, 1913 in Burt, Kossuth County, Iowa United States to Matt C Dransfeldt and Lillian Sievert Dransfeldt. Gladys Peugh had siblings Helen Dransfeldt Molloy, Merle Dransfeldt Mauer, and Roland Dransfeldt. She married Earl Peugh, and they had children Oleta Peugh O'Donnell Jones and Marleta Lynn Peugh Roth. She would also marry Clarence Starr, and they had a child Patricia Rae Starr. Gladys Peugh died at age 89 years old on November 10, 2002 in Portland, Multnomah County, OR.

    Gladys Katherine (or Catherine) Peugh, honored and revered mother of Patricia Starr, Oleta Jones and Marleta Roth, passed away Nov. 10, 2002, at the age of 89 in Portland, Ore. Gladys was born in Burt, Iowa, on July 7, 1913, to Mads (Matt) and Lillian Dransfeldt. When she was a young girl the family moved to Hollywood, Calif., then to the Willamette Valley, Ore. She also lived for many years in Parkdale, Ore., Yakima, Wash., and San Bruno and San Mateo, Calif., before moving back to Oregon in 2000. She was the proud lynchpin of her family, and though she herself received but an eighth-grade education, she insisted that all her daughters go to college. She was a great mother, a wonderful cook, farmer and homemaker, a fast apple and pear-packer and an insatiable reader. She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings: Helen Molloy, Merle Maurer and Roland Dransfeldt; husbands Clarence Starr and Earl Peugh; step-daughter, Anita Wright, and son-in-law, Norman Wright. She is survived by her daughters and extended family, including David Jones, Van Dyke Roth and Lorraine McIntyre; her three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren of the Wright/McIntosh/Olsen branch of the family tree who will all miss her easy-going, feisty, wicked sense of humor and her stubbornness when she was right. A memorial service, to continue to honor and revere her in the manner to which she has become accustomed, will be held at a later date

In 1913, in the year that Gladys K Dransfeldt Starr Peugh was born, Henry Ford installed the first moving assembly line for the mass production of an entire automobile. It had previously taken 12 hours to assemble a whole vehicle - now it took only two hours and 30 minutes! Inspired by the production lines at flour mills, breweries, canneries and industrial bakeries, along with the disassembly of animal carcasses in Chicago’s meat-packing plants, Ford created moving belts for parts and the assembly line was born.

In 1939, Gladys was 26 years old when on the 1st of September, Nazi Germany invaded Poland. On September 17th, the Soviet Union invaded Poland as well. Poland expected help from France and the United Kingdom, since they had a pact with both. But no help came. By October 6th, the Soviet Union and Nazi Germany held full control of the previously Polish lands. Eventually, the invasion of Poland lead to World War II.
