Teacher Found Slain in his Apartment
WATERBURY - The body of a 43-year-old teacher at Waterbury's Croft Alternative School, who had been stabbed in the back with a butcher knife, was found in his Madison Street apartment Monday night, police said. Gino A, Sanchi's body was discovered about 7 p.m. by his mother, who had told police she had not seen her son all day, police said.
The mother lives on the first floor of the three-family house, police said. Sanchi lived on the top floor. Chief Inspector John Griffin said Sanchi had not been seen since about 10 p.m. Sunday. "It could have happened during the night, but we're not sure of that," he said. Police said Sanchi's car is missing. Police also said they have no suspects in the slaying, but said robbery does not appear to have been involved.
