As far as I can remember, and I'm talking mid 1960's. Going to my grandpa & grandma's house was a treat all in itself. My grandma Gertrude McCumber would always greet my dad and I outside her homes front gate and she would always say "Mira McCumba". Thats what she always called me. : ) and that's how my last name is spelled though it should be McCumber. According to grandma the last name McCumber didn't sound mexican enough so some how when my dad was born she changed it to what it's know today as McCumba. LOL : ) Love u welita. Any way getting back to grandpa he was a kind and gentle man. He and grandma always made me feel truly loved. Grandpa was a thin man and he liked to wear cuffed khaki pants, stacey adams and a white T-shirt. He also carried a pocket watch. There was many plants of all kinds in and out of the house and rose bushes as well. Behind my grandparents house was a church and as a child I remember standing in the backyard listening to beautiful gospel music being sung. There was always sweetbread and coffee. Grandpa always made the coffee. We would sit and talk for hours and then my dad would have me play the button accordion for my grandparents. Needless to say they praised me. What beautiful moments I shared and spent with them. Later I learned to play the guitar and again they praised me. : ) The best thing I can recall about my grandpa Ramon McCumber and my grandma Gertrude McCumba is a priceless love that they freely gave to me and I will treasure for the rest of my life. Thank you grandpa I love you and you too grandma. My name is Raymond McCumba III and my daddy was Raymond McCumba Jr. and my grandpa was Ramon McCumber ; )
