Georgina (Deverell) Gemmell of Beechworth, Indigo Shire County, VIC Australia was born on August 18, 1855 in Williamstown, Hobsons Bay City County to Robert Deverell and Elizabeth Waen (Davies) Deverell. Georgina Gemmell had siblings Elizabeth "Lilly" May (Deverell) Liddell, Amelia Charlotte "Lottie" (Deverell) Cholerton, William Henry Deverell, Stella Marion (Deverell) Oakley, Robert Deverell Jr., Mary Ellen (Deverell) Smith, Henrietta (Deverell) Russell, Alfred James Deverell, and Henry Frederick Deverell. She married John Sherlock Graham on May 13, 1878 in Hamilton, Southern Grampians Shire County, Victoria, and they were married until death separated them. They had children Henry Graham, John Stanley Sherlock Graham, and Leslie Sherlock Graham. She married John Gemmell Jnr on November 14, 1891 in Windsor, and they were married until death separated them. She and John George Walling married on November 14, 1891 in Windsor, and they were married until death separated them. Georgina Gemmell died at age 80 years old on May 16, 1936 in Beechworth, Indigo Shire County, VIC, and was buried at Beechworth Cemetery Balaclava Rd, in Beechworth.

    The Hamilton Spectator, Thursday, May 16,1878. MARRIAGE. GRAHAM. - DEVERELL. - On the 13th May, by the Rev. E. Henderson, at the Baptist parsonage, Hamilton, John Sherlock, second son of the late Mr. James Sherlock Graham, of Carlisle, Cumberland, England, to Georgina, second daughter of Mr. Robert Deverell, of Warrnambool. The Hamilton Spectator,Victoria. 10th December 1891. - MARRIAGE. WALLING - GRAHAM. On the 14th November, at the Wesleyan Parsonage Windsor, by the Rev. Richard Fitcher, George Walling, youngest son of Robert Walling, England, to Georgina Graham, late of Hamilton, Victoria.

    The Albury Banner and Wodonga Express. Friday April 1936. The death has occured of Georgina, widow of the late John Gemmell, at the age of 79 years. Two sons of a former marriage - Stanley Graham (Sydney) and Leslie Graham (Mansfield), survive her. Mr. G. McGregor (Presbyterian) conducted the burial service at Beechworth Cemetery.

In 1855, in the year that Georgina (Deverell) Gemmell was born, on March 3rd, Congress appropriated $30,000 to create the U.S. Camel Corps. The idea was to use camels as pack animals in the Southwest and 34 camels were bought. But the Army wasn't enthusiastic about the idea and after the Civil War the Camel Corps was entirely abandoned.

In 1865, Georgina was only 10 years old when on April 14th, President Abraham Lincoln was shot while attending a comedy at Ford's Theatre - Our American Cousin - in Washington, D.C. Actor and Confederate sympathizer John Wilkes Booth shot him 4 days after Lee had surrendered. The President died the next day. At almost the same time that Lincoln was shot, US Secretary of State William H. Seward and his family were attacked at home by another conspirator and Confederate sympathizer.
