  • Introduction

    George had a landscape and lawn maintenance business. He employed men from Meechem Park to help him. When he married Elizabeth Heintz around 1913 he lived on Conway Road between Ballas and Mason Roads on property which his father-in-law, George M. Heintz, deeded to him and his wife, Elizabeth Heintz. After Elizabeth died in 1936? he later moved to Kirkwood, Missouri and Married Caroline Soengen (1896-1989). Sometime in the late 1950s or early 1960s, George bought land in Linn, Missouri, built a house, and moved to Linn, MO.

In 1892, in the year that George Wipke was born, on October 5th, the Dalton Gang was shot. The Gang was attempting to rob two banks - simultaneously - in Coffeyville Kansas but word spread of the robberies and townspeople with guns greeted them when they left the banks. Four members of the gang were killed - only Emmett Dalton survived his wounds and spent 14 years in prison.

In 1918, he was 26 years old when in January, President Wilson presented his Fourteen Points, which assured citizens that World War I was being fought for a moral cause and outlined a plan for postwar peace in Europe. The only leader of the Allies to present such a plan, the Europeans thought Wilson was being too idealistic. The points included free trade, open agreements, democracy and self-determination. They were based on the research and suggestions of 150 advisors.
