George Ferguson was born on January 25, 1874 at Wayne County, West Virginia, USA in Wayne County, West Virginia United States to Catherine "Kate" (Smith) Ferguson and William Worth Ferguson. He married Nancy Marguerite (Boggs) Ferguson, and had children James Ferguson, Iva "Wea" (Ferguson) Greenough, Earl Ferguson, Thelma (Ferguson) Greenough, Dorothy Elaine (Ferguson) Kroetch, Harry Ferguson, and Norma Ferguson. George Ferguson died at age 48 years old on March 15, 1922 in Clearwater, Idaho County, ID, and was buried on March 16, 1922 at Riverside Cemetery in Orofino, Clearwater County.

  • Introduction

    George and Nancy were married on 17 Mar 1894 in Lawrence KY. In addition to those who survived to adulthood, they had children Luther Marion (1895-1898), Charley (1907-1916), and Matilda (1914-1914). After Nancy died, George married his housekeeper, Martha, and they were married until he died. In the 1920 census, George's occupation was listed as "cutting wood - in the woods". Also living with George and Martha - who were living in Bonner ID - are Thelma, Dorothy, Harry, and Norma Ferguson (his children) and Arlene Vanderhoef, daughter of his 2nd wife, Martha.

    Clearwater Republican, March 17, 1922 page 1 Clearwater, Idaho: "George W. Ferguson, who has been at the Clearwater hospital for about ten days died of influenza March 15. He went into a sleep Sunday night from which all efforts to arouse him failed and he never regained consciousness. Deceased was 49 years ol and leaves a wife and seven children to mourn his death. The funeral was conducted by the Rev. Tabor yesterday afternoon. Interment in Riverside cemetery."
