Before she moved to the states, his mother Felicja was married to a man named Aleksander Kuch(1879–1908). They had a son together Wacław Kuch(1907–1965) in Wrotnów, Mazowieckie, Poland. Her husband passed away in 1908, and she came to the states the year after. Felicja Dziewulska and Vincent Rusiniak married on June 13, 1910 in New York City.

    George Rusiniak enlisted in the military on July 5, 1944, at Fort Dix, New Jersey. His military serial number was 12101576, and he joined the Air Corps Private Reserves, which were exclusive to officers and enlisted men of the Officers Reserve Corps and Enlisted Reserve Corps, as well as nurses in reserve status, but were not part of the Regular Army Reserve. George enlisted for the duration of the war or other emergency, plus an additional six months, subject to the discretion of the President or according to law. This was a common enlistment term during World War II, as the duration of the war was uncertain, and the military needed to maintain a high level of readiness to meet any potential threats. George Thomas Rusiniak was released from the US Army on June 25, 1946. The next day on June 26, 1946 he registered for the World War II draft in Roselle, Union Co., New Jersey, USA. At the time he was 5' 4", 177 pounds, with ruddy complexion, brown hair, and blue eyes.

In 1925, in the year that George Thomas Rusiniak was born, in July, the Scopes Trial - often called the Scopes Monkey Trial - took place, prosecuting a substitute teacher for teaching evolution in school. Tennessee had enacted a law that said it was "unlawful to teach human evolution in any state-funded school". William Jennings Bryan headed the prosecution and Clarence Darrow headed the defense. The teacher was found guilty and fined $100. An appeal to the Supreme Court of Tennessee upheld the law but overturned the guilty verdict.
