    George Prate was born on October 28th, 1891 in Italy to Josephine Loope, born 1866 and Rosario Prate. His mother was born in Italy, as was his father. He immigrated to the United States in 1915, at the age of 24. George married Marionna "Mary" Pisarro, born 1898, on April 25th, 1915 in Livingston, New York , Mary was 18 and George was age 23. They had nine children: five daughters and four sons. He was survived by four daughters and three sons. George Prate died at the age of 86 in Piffard, New York and he is buried in Saint Marys Cemetery in Geneseo, Livingston County, New York. See George Prate: Obituary.

    On his June, 1917 World War I draft card, George was described as being of medium build with brown eyes and brown hair. His was said to have been married with one child at the time and his draft card also said that he had been a soldier in the Italian army for three years. George was survived by daughters Delia, Mary, Josephine, and Gloria and sons Ross, Frank, and George. He was also survived by "many grandchildren and great-grandchildren" according to his obituary.     PRATE, GEORGE PIFFARD: Fewbruary 21, 1978, at age 86 years. Survived by four daughters, Miss Delia Prate of Rochester, Mrs. Louis (Mary) Lincoln and Mrs. Anthony (Josephine) Cardone, both of Irondequoit; and Mrs. Eugene (Gloria) Oropalio of Indiatlantic, Florida; 3 sons, Ross Prate of Hornell, Frank Prate of Brighton, George Prate of Rochester; one nephew, Ross Prate of Hornell; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Calling hours will be Thursday, 7 - 9 and Friday, 2 -4, 7 -9 at the Rector-Hicks Funeral Home in Geneseo where a vigil service will be Friday at 3:30 p.m. Prayer service Saturday at 9 a.m. from the funeral home and 9:30 from St. Lucy's Church in Etsof where a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered. Burial in St. Mary's Cemetery, Geneseo. -Democrat and Chronicle (Rochester, New York) Thursday, February 23, 1978 on page 20.
