George Arthur Missen was born in 1893 in Kew, VIC Australia to Annie Maria Missen (Sparkes), and had siblings Ernest Olaf Missen, Frederick Joseph Missen, Charles Ernest Missen, Leslie Adrian Missen, Annie Missen, Lettie Violet Pobjoy (Missen), and Myrtle Grace Missen. George Missen died at age 62 years old on January 5, 1956.

In 1901, at the age of just 8 years old, George was alive when shortly after beginning his second term, President McKinley was assassinated by the self proclaimed anarchist Leon Czolgosz.
