  • Introduction

    Parents: Beatrice Rebecca (nee Hartfield) and Thomas Anthony Needler. Siblings: Gloria Isabel Needler (McNeill) Martin Cyril Needler (Jan). Children David, Steven, Zachary, Rebecca and Benjamin. Past president and university Dean, Author, speciazed in middle English. Geoff was born during an air raid on Manchester, England, during WW11, and moved with his family to Denver, Colo, in 1948. He was involved in local, then national politics at many levels. He was a brilliant speaker and raconteur, and brought his love of life into every room he entered. Deeply missed by his surviving sister.

In 1950, by the time he was merely 10 years old, in February, Joe McCarthy gave a speech alleging that he had a list of "members of the Communist Party and members of a spy ring" who worked in the State Department. He went on to chair a committee that investigated not only the State Department but also the administration of President Harry S. Truman, the Voice of America, and the U.S. Army for communist spies - until he was condemned by the U.S. Senate in 1954.
