  • Introduction

    JF Wiley was also known as 'General JF Wiley', 'Wiley' and/or 'JF. The family story is he was named after 'General John Fremont'. Wiley's parents were Ernest Jackson Wiley and Ora G. Collins, both born in Texas and migrating to Oklahoma for work...from Oklahoma they moved to Whatcom County, WA. Wiley was a very kind, happy, gregarious, family oriented person. Everyone he met loved to be around him. Lorraine and Wiley served as witnesses to the double wedding of Lorraines' cousins in Bellingham: Frank Kroetch to Joyce Benning and Fred Kroetch to Annabelle Caulkin. Lorraine and Wiley signed both of their marriage licenses.

    The Bellingham Herald (WA) 26 Feb 2000, Sat A funeral service for J. F. Wiley of Bellingham will be at 2 pm Monday in the chapel at Greenacres Funeral Home in Ferndale, with the Rev. Harold Minkler officiating. Entombment will follow in Greenacres Memorial Park. Mr. Wiley died Wednesday, Feb 23, 2000 at St. Joseph Hospital after a 13-month illness. He was 73. Born Sept 29, 1926 to Ernest and Ora (Collins) Wiley in Wapanucka, Okla, he had been a Whatcom County resident for 54 years. Mr. Wiley served in the US Navy during World War II. On April 5, 1947, he married Lorraine Greenough in Bellingham. For many years, he co-owned Needham's Nursing Home. He also was the owner of Cascade Laundry. Mr. Wiley was a lifetime member of Elks Lodge No. 194. He enjoyed trips in his motor home, salmon fishing in the San Juans, working in his yard, gardening and cooking. Survivors include his wife of the family home; daughters Diana O'Hara of Bellingham and Lora Ann Rawley of Lummi Island; brother G. B. Wiley of Oklahoma City; sisters Bonnie Lindsay of Bellingham, Helen Perry of Everett and Nancy Fowler of Edmonds; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society.
