She had siblings John Ernest Phillipson, Jr and Jodi Ann Philliipson Whitt. Gaylyn was baptized at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kenosha. She married James Bode on October 15, 1976, and they were married until Gaylyn's death on June 14, 1996. She had children Matthew John Bode, Shannon Christine Bode Costa, James Brian Bode, and Robert Bode. Gaylyn Bode was buried in Powers Lake.
