He married Gina Marie Smalley on August 5, 2000 in East Brunswick, Middlesex County, and they were married until Garth's death on December 4, 2021 in East Brunswick. Garth Smalley had children Charlotte Rae Smalley, Christopher Garth Smalley, and Riley Maureen Smalley.

    Garth Wilbur James Smalley,age 52,peacefully passed away at his home on December 4th,2021. Garth was born on April 12,1969. He was raised in South River and was a proud graduate of South River High School where he excelled in both Varsity Football and Baseball. He attended Rutgers University where he played Varsity lightweight football. He was a true athlete. His passions included golf and softball. He often could be found on a golf course creating memories with friends and family. His competive nature brought out the best in him and everyone he played with. In his early days,Garth was a seasonal resident of Belmar. On Sundays he could be found at The Parker House in Spring Lake where he met the love of his life,Gina. They were married for 21 years,raising their family in East Brunswick for the last 17 years. He was presently working the Vice President of Lending at Guaranteed Mortage in Parsippany. Garth's greatest joy was his family. He was an amazing father and loving husband. He displayed unwavering pride,loyalty and devotion for his three children. As their number one fan,he found tremendous joy while cheering for them as they participated in various sports. He was a faithful friend; he was truly a selfless individual who would accommodate anyone's needs. He was always eager to lend a helping hand. Garth lit up every room with his bright smile and larger than life personality. The energy he radiated attracted the love of the people who surrounded him. Garth was predeceased by his father,Gustav W. Smalley;brother,Gregory Smalley,and dear friend,Christopher Dincuff. Surviving are his wife,Gina (Purdue); their three children,Charlie Mae,Christopher Garth,and Riley Maureen;his mother,Gail Smalley (Rappleyea) of South River;his siblings,Gustav C. Smalley of Manville,Glenn Smalley of South River and Gordon Smalley of Orlando,FL,along with many loving nieces and nephews,who will miss him dearly. Family and friends may visit on Wednesday,December 8th,2021 from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M.,at The Brunswick Memorial Home,454 Cranbury Rd.,East Brunswick. Funeral services will be held at 8:45 A.M. on Thursday,December 9th,at the funeral home,with a 9:30 A.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Bartholomew R.C. Church,East Brunswick. Cremation will be private. For directions or to leave a message of condolence,please visit www.BrunswickMemorialHome.com. In lieu of flowers,the family requests that donations can be made to the Christopher More Dincuff Memorial Scholarship Fund. Checks should be sent to 36 New St.,South River,NJ 08882.
