Frederick William Henry Lindsay 1884 - 1944

Frederick William Lindsay was born in 1884 to Harry Lindsay and Mary Lindsay ( Lacey, and had siblings Iolanthe Dunstan ( Lindsay, George Harrington Lindsay, Elsie Bentley, James Lindsay, and Arthur Lindsay. He married Myrtle Rose Lindsay ( Cozens, and had children Lester Harvey Lindsay, Elsie Rosanna May Lindsay, Myrtle "Victoria" Lindsay, Dorothy Lindsay, Alma Lindsay, and Shirley Lindsay. Frederick Lindsay died at age 59 years old on July 25, 1944.

In 1884, in the year that Frederick William Henry Lindsay was born, on August 5th, the cornerstone for the base of the Statue of Liberty - a gift from the people of France - was laid. 120,000 people - most donations were $1 - donated to the completion of the base. An 1883 poem by Emma Lazarus was also written to raise funds. That poem was included in the base of the statue and is well known today. In 1902, by the time he was 18 years old, the world famous Italian tenor, Enrico Caruso, made the first gramophone recording by a popular singer. Accompanied by only a piano, his voice recordings became a big seller and did much to popularize the new-fangled gramophone. He had to sing into a metal "horn" that relayed his voice to a metal disc. And the songs had to be under 4 and a half minutes!
