He had children Franklin Pierce Robards Jr., Franklin Robert Pierce, and Benjamin Pierce. Franklin Pierce died at age 64 years old on October 8, 1869 at The Pierce Manse 14 Horseshoe Pond Ln., in Concord, Merricmack County, NH, and was buried at Old North Cemetery in Concord.

In 1804, in the year that Franklin Pierce was born, on May 14th, Lewis and Clark started out from St. Louis, Missouri on an expedition to explore the West and to find a route to the Pacific Ocean. President Thomas Jefferson commissioned the trip shortly after the Louisiana Purchase in 1803. He wanted the new territory mapped and wanted to establish an American presence in the West before Great Britain or other European powers could claim it.

In 1810, at the age of merely 6 years old, Franklin was alive when on November 17th, the Anglo-Swedish War (1810–12) began. Sweden declared war on the United Kingdom. While no hostilities occurred, France had demanded that Sweden declare the war and for economic reasons, Sweden complied. Two years later, France occupied Swedish Territory and Sweden sought peace with Great Britain.
