Francis C. Waid was born April 22, 1833 in Woodcock Township, Crawford Co., Pa. to Ira Canfield Waid and Elizabeth Morehead. Photo is of Francis and his second wife (1st wife was Eliza Masiker). Francis was a prolific writer, keeping a diary of his life from age 16 until his unexpected death on February 20, 1892. His writings were published in 1892 by a family member and were called "Francis C. Waid's Souvenirs"...can be found on-line.
I am not a relative and have no other info on Francis and his family members. Photo found in an antique shop in Snohomish, Washington.

Francis C. Waid was born April 22, 1833 in Woodcock Township, Crawford Co., Pa. to Ira Canfield Waid and Elizabeth Morehead. Francis had a twin brother Franklin Waid who died at age 21.
Francis married Eliza C. Masiker in 1854 and had 3 sons: Franklin, Guinnip and Fredrick. Eliza died in 1888 and Francis remarried to Anna Elisa Tyler in 1889. Francis died suddenly on February 20, 1892.

I wonder if the name is Guinnniss. In the 1800's ss was frequently written as a "leading s" which looked like the beginning of the letter "p" in lower case, followed by an "s" which may have a rounded top. Thereby appearing in handwritten records as a lower case "p". This is very common in my French and German records of the same time. Mosse looks like Mope and Riess as Riep.
Etta mae Waid married Alvin Miller from MI; but her dad was Abraham Waid from Crawford Co.,PA He was married twice. Etta was married to a Philllips then a Miller. She was the first woman to be put in prison during prohibition. Later found out the cops had planted the bottle on her.
