I’ve “rescued” an old photograph of Frances and Pete ZMASHINSKY which was taken at the Zahn Studio in East St. Louis, IL. The photograph appears to have been taken in the early 1900’s with the couple likely in their 40’s or 50’s at the time it was taken. Based on limited research I was able to locate the following details regarding this couple:
Peter ZMASHENSKE (age 39 – born 1862) of East St. Louis, IL married Franceska or Franciska SHULTZ (age 32 – born 1870) of East St. Louis, IL on 12 Sept 1904
Frances & Pete ZMASHENSKE were living at 1115 Stelle Avenue in Portland, Oregon in 1921
Frances & Pete ZMASHENSKE were living at 24 E. 37th in Portland, Oregon in 1931
Pete died in 1931 in Portland, OR and is buried in the Mount Calvary Cemetery in Portland, Oregon. His wife Frances died 5 Mar 1939 in Portland, Oregon and was buried in the Mount Calvary Cemetery in Portland, OR.
Census records provide the following details:
1930 census of Portland, OR:
Peter ZMASHENSKE, age 68, married at age 43, born Poland, parents born Poland, to USA 1891, a Saloon Laborer
Frances ZMASHENSKE, wife, age 55, married at age 30, born Russia, parents born Russia, to USA 1891
I am hoping to locate someone from this family so that this beautiful old photograph can be returned to the care of family. If you are a member of this family, or you know someone who might be, please contact me.
Thanks,
Shelley
