A photo of Mrs. Borden Harriman: Florence Jaffray "Daisy" Harriman.

She was a socialite - but she was also a suffragette, a reformer, and under FDR, a diplomat - the U.S. Minister to Norway.

Born to a wealthy NYC family and married to a banker at the age of 19, she spent her life working on behalf of others. She once said "Should not the woman who spends the money which the employees help to provide take a special interest in their welfare, especially in that of the women wage earners?"

From working for the poor and disenfranchised (especially women) to helping Norwegians escape the Nazi invasion in World War II (while hiding in the woods herself), this woman worked tirelessly in her long life (she lived to the age of 97). And, by the looks of the picture, she also had fun!
