Introduction

Florence C Endres was my Grandmother. Her Mother was Mary Timmons, her Father was Frederick Martin Hosch. Mary and Frederick had 6 children. She was married to Henry Peter Endres Sr. on January 19, 1922, in Manhattan, New York. They had 3 children, one died very young, the two surviving is my Father, Henry Peter Endres Jr., and his sister Ursula Margaret Endres.

In 1902, at the age of merely 5 years old, Florence was alive when the world famous Italian tenor, Enrico Caruso, made the first gramophone recording by a popular singer. Accompanied by only a piano, his voice recordings became a big seller and did much to popularize the new-fangled gramophone. He had to sing into a metal "horn" that relayed his voice to a metal disc. And the songs had to be under 4 and a half minutes!
