    Florence Ellen Zahnow was born on March 12 1931 to Elwin & Grace Bradbury (her 9th great grandmother was Mary Perkins Bradbury of the infamous Salem Witch Trials 1692). She was born in Spokane, Wa. & lived in Rathdrum, Idaho. She married Leroy Zahnow in 1950, and they moved to Bellingham, Wa living there for the next 55 years. Florence worked most of her life taking time off to raise their 2 children, Linda born on Jan 9 1951 & Gary on Aug 29 1952, then some 10 years later returned to f/t work at Thriftway Bakery & became the manager! She was a wonderful mother, kept a spotless home, great cook & was voted the best looking girl & was prom queen all 4 years of high school & the top cheerleader. Her father Elwin Bradbury was part English & of German/Ashkenazi Jewish ancestry, her mother Grace was part Welsh/Irish (Howell) & English.

In 1931, in the year that Florence E Zahnow was born, on May 1st, the Empire State Building opened in New York City. At 1,454 feet (including the roof and antenna), it was the tallest building in the world until the World Trade Center's North Tower was built in 1970. (It is now the 34th tallest.)
