Florance (Manuel) Stevens was born in 1862 at Emerald Hill in South Melbourne, Port Phillip City County, VIC Australia to Freeman Manuel and Susannah (Duncalf) Manuel, and had siblings Susannah Ann (Manuel) McCalman, Alice Manuel, Annie Maria (Manuel) Morton, Amy (Manuel) Lancashire, and Catherine Ettie (Manuel) Graf. She married Edwin John Stevens, and had children Olive Mildred Stevens, Alma Florence Stevens, Clyde Edwin Stevens, and Hazel Stevens. Florance Stevens died at age 65 years old on March 9, 1928 at Melbourne Hospital in Fitzroy, City of Yarra County, and was buried at Melbourne General Cemetery College Cres, in Parkville, Melbourne City County.

Aged 65 years. Gone home by way of the cross.

Four Lakota Sioux - while hunting - killed five settlers near the Minnesota River.
