She was married to George Washington Harris, and had children Dorothy Elizabeth Ramsey, Barbara Bowen Baugham, Marie Harris Berry, and James Harris. Evia Harris died at age 86 years old on February 10, 2000, and was buried at Hartland Missionary Methodist 2556 Piney Rd, in Morganton, Burke County.
