    Evelyn was ethnically Assyrian. Her mother and father were born in Iran. Her husband was Francis Cattano. Together They had 5 children, Mildred, Jerry, Vivian Faith and Noel. Frank also had a daughter from a previous marriage, I believe her name was Ethel. Evelyn’s mother was named Nancy Shay and her father was Abraham Shay. Nancy Shay (her mother) was raised by Nabad Nazar and Daniel Nazar (Born in Persia). It is unclear whether Nabad Nazar was her biological mother or a step mother. It was said that Nancy Nazar (Shay) biological mother died giving birth or shortly after giving birth. However, it is unknown at this time. Evelyn remained close to her Grandmother Nabad and mother Nancy. Evelyn passed away Jan 3, 1991 in Turlock, CA due to complications from a brain aneurysm.

In 1924, in the year that Evelyn Cattano was born, on January 21st, Vladimir Lenin, a leader of the Russian Revolution and the first leader of the Soviet Union died. He had survived two assassination attempts but had subsequent physical problems, suffering 3 strokes. He was in such great pain, it is said that he asked Stalin to poison him. The circumstances of his death are still disputed. He did oppose Stalin as the next leader - nonetheless, Stalin won a power struggle and ruled as a Soviet dictator until his death in 1953.

In 1934, she was just 10 years old when on July 22nd, gangster John Dillinger was killed in Chicago. His gang had robbed banks and police stations, among other charges, and he was being hunted by J. Edgar Hoover, head of the FBI - although many in the public saw him as a "Robin Hood". A madam from a brothel in which he was hiding became an informer for the FBI and, after a shootout with FBI agents, Dillinger was shot and died.
