Belle & Ed McPhetridge ranch
A photo of Belle & Ed McPhetridge on their ranch. Aunt Belle was the first to marry and leave home. She married Edward Bruce Mc Phetridge (1858-1907) and they lived on this ranch. I don't know where it was located but imagine it was in Mt. Pleasant district. Their first daughter Eula is in the photo with their dog Dido. Uncle Ed worked in the Sutter County Recorders Office at one time. Mama & Aunt Lou stayed with them briefly in Yuba City before they went to work in Sacramento.

When I was a little girl in the 1950s that area was known for orchards of prunes and plums as well as dairy farming.

A photo of Eula & Lola, the Lewis 1890's granbabies. Children of Mary Belle Lewis & Edward Bruce Mc Phetridge. Eula Alice was born October 6, 1891. Lola Belle was born August 18, 1896. They moved to Reno after their father died. I never saw Lola until I was 10 or 11. Eula had already married. Aunt Belle & Lola came to visit us in Hammonton and stayed a few days. I liked Lola right away.

A photo of Aunt Belle & daughters in Reno. This is Aunt Belle, Lola Belle standing, and Eula taken in Reno. They moved after 1907 when Ed Mc Phetridge died. Aunt Belle worked as a housekeeper. When I was 18, I drove our car up to Reno with Mama, Verna, and Ceta to visit for a few days.

A photo of Eula Alice Norris. Eula Mc Phetridge, Aunt Belle's daughter, married Perry Norris (1885-1962). They lived in Montegue, CA for several years where Edward & Barbara were born. He worked for an oil company & they moved to Knight's Landing where he was a distributor for Standard Oil. After Robert was born, they moved to San Francisco & Perry was a timekeeper for St Frances Hospital. After he died, Eula lived with Barbara.

Aunt Belle's grandchildren
When Mama went into the hospital, Eula came to Hammonton with Barbara & Edward to stay with us. My sisters & I didn't get along with the cousins. When they moved to San Francisco, my cousin Sheral Holmes & I use to visit Eula's family in the Mission district. Robert was a paperboy. I knew Edward the best. He was engaged to a girl & went to Knights Landing to see her & was killed afterwards in an auto accident Dec 8, 1934. Barbara married Perry Wolf & had Marcia & Bruce. Robert married Ninah Bell & had Judy, Barbara, & Martin Norris.
