Esther Isabella Brown 1877 - 1962

Esther Isabella (Brown) Findlay of Sebastopol, City of Ballarat County, VIC Australia was born in 1877 in Linton to Mary Elizabeth (Jamieson) and Frederick Brown. She had siblings Robert Alexander Brown, Frederick James Brown, William Ernest Brown, Alice Maud (Brown) Franklin, Margaret Selina Brown, Frederick John Victor Brown, Arthur Daniel James Harold Brown, and Percy Clarence Frederick Brown. She married Frank Findlay in 1899, and had children Isabella Ruby Pearl Findlay, Frederick Francis David Findlay, Francis Kenneth Findlay, Mervyn Maxwelll Findlay, William Ernest Findlay, and Hayden Morris Alwyn Findlay. Esther Findlay died at age 85 years old in 1962 in Sebastopol.

In 1877, in the year that Esther Isabella Brown was born, on January 8th, the Battle of Wolf Mountain occurred in southern Montana Territory. Crazy Horse, Two Moon, and their warriors fought the United States Cavalry. The battle was a tactical draw and by May, Crazy Horse and his followers had surrendered at Camp Robinson.
