Deeter, and had children Lorie Maddy, Irene Kertke, Elaine Erickson, Lawrence Deeter, Velmar Plunk, and Kathy Wells. Ervin Deeter died at age 79 years old on December 11, 2006 at Christian Healthcare Center in Lynden, and was buried on December 14, 2006 at Sumas Cemetery in Sumas.

    Ervin D. Deeter, age 79 of Sumas, died at the Christian Health Care Center on Monday, December 11. The son of Oliver and Margaret (Minaker) Deeter, Ervin was born in Sedro Woolley on January 10, 1927 and had been a lifetime Sumas area resident. He served in the US Army for ten years and then twelve years with the US Forest Service. He was married to Roselie Plunk in Blaine on December 12, 1960. Ervin enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing and volunteering at the Everson Food Bank. Mr. Deeter is survived by his wife Roselie; children Velmar (Sally) Plunk of Custer, Kathy (David) Wells of Ferndale, Lorie (Rick) Maddy of Newport, WA., Irene (Brad) Kerntke of Everson, Elaine Erickson and partner Shawn of Red Water, Alberta and Lawrence (Tausha) Deeter of Maple Falls; fifteen grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sisters Rose (Jim) Alsum of Lynden, Loretta (Harold) Slocum of Helena, MT. and Gladys (Fred) Abitia of Bellingham and numerous other relatives. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Richard and Bernard Deeter. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to Noon on Thursday, Dec. 14, at Gillies Funeral Home in Lynden. Burial will be at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday in Sumas Cemetery followed by memorial funeral services at 2:00 p.m. in the Nooksack Valley Baptist Church, 1208 East Main st
